Summer Swim League Information:

Ages: 5-18 years

Registration Begins: April 22, 2019

Season: June 10th through July 29

Practice Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Practice Times: 4:00pm-4:45pm OR 4:45pm-6:00pm

Fees: AFC Members $160 per participant
Non-Members $180 per participant
Your registration fee includes coaching fees, ribbons & awards, meet fees, league t-shirt, swim bag, water bottle, and swim cap.  All practices are held at the Aquatic & Fitness Center.  Swim meets are held at “Pepper” Geddings Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach.
*Attending the swim meets is encouraged, but not required.

Practice Times: Monday/Wednesday/Friday; between 4:00 pm- 5:45 pm
* Exact practice time is based on age and ability. Will be determined after the first week of practice.
Participants will have the opportunity to receive additional instruction in competitive strokes, starts, turns, and racing techniques.

Dates: June 21st & 28th/July 5th, 12th, 19th

Championship Meet July 26th

Warm ups: 4:30pm Meet Starts: 5:30pm

Is My Child Ready for Summer Swim League?
The following age divisions will be followed for each event:
Ages: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18. Swimmers must be able to swim at least their age appropriate distance unassisted.

  • Swimmers aged 8 & under must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle in no more than 70 seconds.
  • Swimmers aged 9 & older must have the ability to swim 50 yards of freestyle in no more than 2 minutes and 10 seconds.

This is introductory competitive swimming in a FUN, non-threatening atmosphere!  Swimmers improve skills and endurance and learn competitive techniques.  Participants should have passed, or possess, Youth Level 3 swimming skills. They should be comfortable swimming the length of the pool on their stomach and back.

Participant Awards:
The Summer Swim League is a “learning league” and designed to be a positive introduction into competitive swimming.  Ribbons are issued 1st through 6th place in each heat of every race.  The following awards will be given to swimmers on each team at the end of the season:

  • Participant’s Medal
  • Perfect Swim Meet Attendance
  • Most Valuable Swimmer (Boy & Girl)
  • Most Improved Swimmer (Boy & Girl)
  • Team Spirit Award (Boy & Girl)
  • Sportsmanship Award (Boy & Girl)


Volunteers:

The success of this program relies heavily on volunteers. During each swim meet volunteer timers will be needed.  We ask that all parents consider volunteering to be a timer, as it is the “best seat in the house.”
