CITY AND STATE THANK DR. JIM MEZICK FOR DECADES OF SERVICE
During the May 3 North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, Mayor Marilyn Hatley presented Dr. James C. “Jim” Mezick with a Proclamation honoring him for his decades of service to the community.
SC Senator Greg Hembree and SC Representative William Bailey presented Jim Mezick with a concurrent Resolution from the Senate and House honoring him for his positive impact on South Carolina.
In 1968, when Lakeside Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach was 20 years old, Jim Mezick became its Senior Pastor and served in that role for 32 years. Under his leadership, the church expanded its building program, increased staff, grew its ministries, and introduced many young people into Christian service. Loved by his church, he retired in 2000.
Since his retirement, he has remained a vital part of North Myrtle Beach life, helping to establish and participating in the citywide Prayer Breakfast, serving as an interim Pastor for area churches, leading Bible studies, and, at their request, counseling numerous individuals as they seek to reconnect with or enhance their spiritual life.
Jim Mezick has also provided meaningful and relevant Invocations at dozens of City Council meetings.
In preparation for his life's calling, Dr. Jim Mezick earned his bachelor's degree at Auburn University in Alabama, completed his master's degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas, and earned his doctorate at Drew University in New Jersey.
We thank Dr. Jim Mezick for his caring and wise commitment and service to North Myrtle Beach and South Carolina.
