[ARCHIVED] Renovations at Cherry Grove Park & Boat Ramp Continue, Paid Parking to Start April 30

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Renovations at the Cherry Grove Park & Boat Ramp are coming together. The popular fishing and kayaking spot is located at 53rd Ave. North, North Myrtle Beach on the Cherry Grove marsh. It provides a boat ramp and a kayak launch ramp to House Creek and the marsh.

There are several amenities for citizens and visitors to enjoy at Cherry Grove Park & Boat Ramp.

  • Two lane boat launch
  • Kayak launch
  • Access and parking for Heritage Shores Nature Preserve 
  • Fishing pier
  • Fish cleaning station
  • Floating boat dock
  • Picnic shelter
  • Restrooms

Ongoing renovations include a larger parking lot, and a new kayak ramp to accommodate commercial kayaking companies. Renovations at Cherry Grove Park & Boat Ramp are expected to be completed by the end of May.

Starting Saturday April 30, visitors to Cherry Grove Park & Boat Ramp will be required to pay for parking between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The cost is $2 per hour. Parking is free at all parking lots owned by The City of North Myrtle Beach between the hours of 5 p.m. and midnight, and 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. There is no parking allowed in any City-owned lot between the hours of 12 midnight and 5 a.m.

Residents of The City of North Myrtle Beach qualify for free parking year-round for a limited number of vehicles but must register with Park North Myrtle Beach. You may apply online here or register in-person at 904 2nd Avenue North. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also email parking@nmb.us for more information about City-owned paid parking and the parking permit program.

Visitors can pay using several methods.

  • Option 1: Text 2 park – Text the location code starting with “NMB” at each City-owned parking lot, then follow the link that will be texted
  • Option 2: Passport Parking App – Download the Passport Parking app, register an account, enter the zone number located by signage at each City-owned parking lot, then confirm the amount of time you will be parking
  • Option 3: Pay Station – Enter your license plate into the kiosk located at each City-owned parking lot, Select the amount of time, insert your payment card
